Quantum Entanglement and Some Applications.
Quantum Mechanics was one idea that Einstein refuted because he believed that this theory was an incomplete. Einstein was convinced that a particle has a definite position and momentum at all the... time whether the observer was measuring or not.
Some of the applications that hold Quantum Mechanics is Quantum Teleportation and Cryptography. In 1993 scientists at IBM led by Charles Bennett showed that it was possible to Teleport objects at atomic scales using Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) experiment "In subsequent years, other scientists have demonstrated teleportation experimentally in a variety of systems, including single photons, coherent light fields, nuclear spins, and trapped ions"[1]
One of the most recent experiment in Teleportation was conducted by Scientists in China where they were able to teleport information between Photons in a rage of 97 km. Moreover, European Scientist were able to successfully Teleport Photons across Canary Islands at a distance of 143 km. [2]
On the other hand, Quantum Cryptography uses Photons to transmit information, and once the information is fully transmitted to the receiver, he will have to decode it using the same "secret-key" that encodes and decodes the data, so he can understand the message. The data is manipulated using Photons which work like Computer Binary-Digits, 0s and 1s, due to Photon's properties of spin and polarization.
"Quantum Cryptology depends on physics, not mathematics." which makes somehow harder to break. "Using a machine developed by Swiss manufacturer Id Quantique, votes cast in the Swiss canton of Geneva during the October 2007 parliamentary elections were transmitted using a secure encryption encoded by a key generated using photons" [3]
